Can I use baby shampoo on my cat

Question

Hello postpartumperiod team, my name is Christian Gould from Australia "Sydney", my question is, Can I use baby shampoo on my cat? Me and my wife just had a baby 2 days ago and I was wondering if using our baby’s shampoo on the cats was safe or not.

Can I use baby shampoo on my cat

Well no, you can’t use a human shampoo on your cats, it doesn’t matter if it a hair shampoo, dish soap, body shampoo or baby shampoo, you need to buy a shampoo that is dedicated to cat’s because a baby’s shampoo will dry out your cat’s skin.

Another thing you should know is, baby shampoo will never protect your cat from bacteria’s and germs. A baby shampoo won’t be able to wash flees.

Even using a dog shampoo on your cat is also not recommended since it can be toxic for cats most of the time.

So if you are also thinking on using your dog shampoo on your cat I would advise you to not do it because most dog shampoos can be very harmful when using on cats.

According to the FDA, human products and pet’s products are two different things that why it is not recommended to use your babies shampoo on your cat.

Then which shampoo is best for cats?

Well the only shampoo I would recommend is Adams flea and tick cleansing shampoo just because me and my wife have been using it on our cat for about 12 months and we don’t have a single regret from using it, it worth every penny and also recommended by vet’s.

Even though a babies shampoo will make your cat smell like sunshine, it still against the FDA’s terms, just buy a shampoo that was made for cat and you should be fine.

Using baby shampoo on any pet’s is wrong, whether you use it on your dogs or cats it is very wrong, cat shampoos are very cheap, there are even shampoos that you can get for less than 10 dollars.

Just go to any local store near you and look for pet’s product, am sure you’ll find a shampoo that is dedicated to cat or just go to amazon and search for cat shampoos. I’m sure you’ll find something that is worth using.

But I would only recommend you to buy Adams flea and tick cleansing shampoo just because it what we also use on our cat, and this shampoo is very good, your cats will smell very nice and also will get protection against germs just from using this shampoo.

Cat’s owners need to know that they can’t just use any shampoo on their cats, whether it a human shampoo, hair shampoo or baby shampoo. Those type of shampoos will never kills ticks, fleas, lice and mites. They were not made for that.

I’m sure you have been on other website searching for an answer, let me tell you something, there are a lot of people online who don’t know what they are talking about.

Some people will say yes it safe to use a babies shampoo on a cat, well they are crazy and don’t know what they are saying especially on online forums.

Please take my advice, don’t use a human shampoo to wash your cat, according to the FDA, baby shampoo will dry out your cat skin.

You need to use a shampoo which was specially made for cats, not for babies, not for humans or dogs.

Should we really give our cat a shower?

cat shower

Well a lot of people believe that cats normal clean them self’s, well that not true, you need to wash your cats at least 2 times a week, and if he/she is naughty or plays out side during the day then your cat needs a bath at least every two days.

My friend believed that cats wash them self’s, well only a person who doesn’t know anything about cat will say that. How can a cat clean itself? Even if it does, what about germs and bacteria’s?

What to do when your cat hate taking a bath?

angry cat

Well all most 90% percent of cats don’t like taking a shower, other cat will fight for their lives when trying to put them on a shower or bathtub.

But why?

90% percent of cats are very scared of water, when putting them on a shower they think they will drown, that why they will fight and won’t go in easily.

Advice

If your cat won’t go to a shower then you need to be very gently about it, don’t put it on a lot of water, don’t put it on a bathtub, use a large tupperware instead…..
